Jaxx being Jaxx

Not sure what to make of Warriors swingman Stephen Jackson's revelation that he wants to be traded. He mentioned the three Texas teams, the New York Knicks and the Cavs as possible destinations.

I'm sure he'd want to play for the Cavs because of Coach Mike Brown. The two have remained close through the years after they were together in Indiana. Brown's two boys just love Jackson.

He's a very talented player. He can shoot, pass and handle the ball. But he seems to get disgruntled every couple years. It wasn't long ago that he was ready to bolt from the Warriors because of contract squabbles.

His best position is probably small forward. The Cavs are well-fortified at that position. He could also play shooting guard. But Brown loves Delonte West's basketball IQ and how hard he plays the game.

I wouldn't put too much credence in the report. He would be a great sixth man for the Cavs, but it's unsure who the Warriors would want from them.

Kurz coming to camp

Former Golden State Warriors forward Rob Kurz has agreed to come to the Cavaliers' training camp in October.

The 6-9, 232-pounder is on a make-good contract.

Kurz and second-round pick Danny Green would give the Cavs 15 players under contract.

The final spot on the roster might have come down to Kurz and former Cavs forward Joe Smith.

Smith has agreed to a one-year deal for the minimum - $1,306,455 - with the Atlanta Hawks. The same offer was on the table from the Cavs, but he chose their Eastern Conference playoff rival instead. The Cavs swept the Hawks, 4-0, in the second round of the playoffs.

He'll likely get more playing time with the Hawks. He'll join center Zaza Pachulia as a big man off the bench. It's actually shaping up into a nice big-man rotation when you throw in starters Josh Smith and Al Horford.

He probably thought he'd have trouble getting minutes with the Cavs, especially after the signing of Leon Powe. The Cavs also have J.J. Hickson and Darnell Jackson as reserve big men.

"Joe Beast," however, is one of the most popular players on the team. The players and media loved him. He's a stand-up guy, who was very approachable after wins or losses.

Here's how the Cavs' 15-man roster breaks down:

C - Shaquille O'Neal, Zydrunas Ilgauskas
PF - Anderson Varejao, J.J. Hickson, Darnell Jackson, Leon Powe, Rob Kurz
SF - LeBron James, Jamario Moon, Jawad Williams
SG - Delonte West, Anthony Parker, Danny Green
PG - Mo Williams, Daniel Gibson

Powe could be close

News of Leon Powe signing a 2-year deal with the Cavs was swirling late Monday night. He's reportedly close to signing for the league minimum, with the Cavs holding an option on the second year of the deal.

The 6-8, 240-pounder is coming off ACL and microfracture surgery on his knee. He might not be ready to play until January or February.
